Arapaho National Forest

Colorado is home to some of the best scenery on earth and Breckenridge wants you to experience this scenery first hand. In fact, there is no better way to become one with nature than to take a day trip to the Arapaho National Forest. Spread on top of the Continental Divide, this national forest is truly a sight not to be missed.

The Arapaho forest was named for the Arapaho Indians, the lands tribe that used to hunt and trek this rocky Front Range terrain. Traces of their foraging past are still viewable throughout the forest and the mountains seem to tell a story of great strength and greater triumph. When you visit this forest you will see glaciers, mountain tops, wildlife, and slowly snaking rivers. Of course, many visit this forest for the sheer thrill that climbing such jagged mountain sides provides, and these peaks are rated class four and class five a thrill for any skill level. Then again, a bike ride through the forest is just as magical. No matter how you decided to make your own path, the forest awaits your weary feet.

You may choose to pitch a tent and enjoy a night under the stars, or you may opt for a simply day time hike through the tree tops. Every tourist should take the time to visit the Arapaho National Forest in order to experience Mother Nature the way it was intended to be seen. Allow you mind to carry you back to the time of the Arapahos, or simply enjoy the beating sun and the snow capped mountain tops your soul is calling, its time to answer.
