Kingdom Days

Once upon a time, Breckenridge was known as Colorados Kingdom. In fact, it wasnt until 1936 that Breckenridge was officially recognized. In true Breckenridge style, during Kingdom Days residents choose to celebrate their towns historically laden past with a sort of street fair.

The year 2007 marked the first inaugural Kingdom Days events, but the events have proven to be wildly popular with both tourist and locals alike. Historic Breckenridge meant brothels, saloons, gun slinging cowboys, and mining. Kingdom day aims as focusing on Breckenridges history as a community, as well as its gold mining past in order to bring a certain awareness of the towns history to those that may be passing through.

Breckenridge kicks of its Kingdom Days even with a race that is certainly reminiscent of the past, but also extremely out of the ordinary. The first race of this festive two day event is none other than the Outhouse Race. Those that wish to race are invited to come up with their own mode of outhouse transportation and race alongside others in order to pull their vehicle across the finish line.

Of course, Kingdom Days has a lot more to offer in the way of old time food, drink, dancing, and good old Breckenridge fun. No matter what season is upon us, Breckenridge has found a way to celebrate throughout the town the whole year through. This town is all about playtime, so grab a hold of your pistols and head to Breckenridges Kingdom days set to take place each June in order to celebrate this towns rugged past.
