In September 2008, Breckenridge and Paulaner Bier will host the 14th Annual Oktoberfest. This Rocky Mountain town hosts the finest Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States. If you cant make it to Munich, then make sure you get to Breckenridge! Oktoberfest is one of the oldest German traditions. The celebration is great for those who love the accordion, tubas, lederhosen, German food and, of course, great beer, so bring a stein!
The party begins with the Brewmeisters Dinner on Friday September 12, 2008. Guests at the dinner will be served a great multi-course meal, each course paired with a German style beer courtesy of Paulaner Bier. On Saturday, September 13th at 12 noon, the official keg will be tapped. Be sure you shout out O'zapft is! (It's tapped!)
The street party will feature great German music by Those Austrian Guys, traditional German dances by the Schuhplattler dancers, thrilling Kids rides, inflatable toys and other great activities. Leave your dogs, cats, birds and pot belly pigs at home; this is a pet free event! The party continues until Sunday when the whole town turns out for the street party on Main. There will be great food and drink vendors, booths, and traditional Bavarian music.
You and your family can walk among the vendors and find such traditional Bavarian food as sausage, German chicken, kasespatzle (cheese noodles), and sauerkraut. Maybe they will even have roast ox tails! Bring the kids so they can enjoy the fun, but make sure those of you carrying the steins have a designated driver!
