Lets face it; if you go on a vacation in the west, it is just plain silly if you dont do something western. There is no other activity more western than a good old fashioned barbecue. Breckenridge has plenty of barbecue to choose from. The following is just an overview. With a little research you can find many more locations. These, I believe, represent the best in Breckenridge barbecue.
For casual indoor barbecue you might choose Breckenridge Texas Style Barbecue. The restaurant style setting has a real barbecue pit in the kitchen. Try the barbecue sampler if you have trouble making up your mind. They also feature great sandwiches, and as for barbecue platters, they have something for everyone. They have BBQ hickory Smoked Pork Ribs, Pig Out Platter, BBQ Combo Platter, Pulled pork platter, Smoked Chicken & Ribs Platter, Beef Brisket Platter, and the Smoked Half Chicken Platter. They even have garden burgers for the vegetarian who was dragged into the restaurant against their will. Expect to spend around $12.00 per person. They are open from 11am to 10pm daily.
Bubbas Bar-B-Que is a more casual setting than Breckenridge Texas Style Barbecue. They have a great lunch special and an amazing dinner. They feature the best hickory smoked barbecue in the state. Items on their menu include Bubbatizers, beef brisket, pork, sandwiches and more. Their sauce was voted Best Sauce at the Colorado Barbecue Challenge. Expect to spend under $12 per person. They are open for Lunch from 11am to 4pm; dinner times are 4pm to 10pm.
Finally, for a great outdoor barbecue event, try the Country Boy Mine barbecue dinner. The drawback to this location is that you must have at least 15 people in your party, and you must call ahead! It is a great meal, including barbecue ribs, chicken, corn bread, apple crisp and more. Private meals, including a campfire are $45 per person, children are $38. You will be eating your meal at the site of a real mine, well worth the experience.
