The Colorado Rockies sparked a gold rush that came close to rivaling the push in California, and left behind small towns when the mines played out. Breckenridge has been perched on the side of a mountain for over 140 years, offering a fantastic getaway from the urban rat-race.
The leaves are just now turning a pale gold on the aspen trees that line the streets of this little Victorian town. Fall has arrived once again, and the businesses are gearing up for another busy season of tourism. Breckenridge is home to some of the finest skiing on the planet, as well as offering a year around paradise for those who decide to travel there.
Only a few hours outside of Denver, this village offers unbelievable sights 365 days in a row, with a short drive, you can get up to the base of Loveland Pass, and take a short hike, perhaps bringing along a picnic lunch. Don't forget to pack your camera, the photographic opportunities are endless "on top of the world".
Standing on top of the Ten-Mile Range, just look out in awe as the land spills out below you. Up above the treeline, it isn't unusual to see a cloud or two pass under where you are perched, for a moment obscuring the gold of the aspens and the rich green color given by the pine trees.
Take a breath. It is fall in Colorado, and soon the snows will start to fall, coating the slopes in a white frosting that can only be broken up by the vibrant ski enthusiasts hitting the slopes. When you get chilled enough, down in the town are many bars and eateries that will warm you up in moments with the great food and old world charm.
Breckenridge Colorado is truly a place of all seasons.
