Oktoberfest

There is no better way to kick off the fall season than with a good, old-fashioned, Oktoberfest. Breckenridge means fun all year long, and this town sure knows how to throw a hearty Oktoberfest party. The festival is annual and begins on September 14th carrying on until the 16th, and begins with the annual Brewmasters Dinner.

The Brewmasters Dinner is the perfect way to begin this traditional German festival, as those that participate will enjoy a multi-course dinner with of course Paulner Bier. The cuisine usually consists of traditional fare coupled with a special Breckenridge twist that visitors should not miss. The rest of the events following the Brewmasters Dinner consist largely of a street fair that is located on Breckenridges main street beginning with the tapping of the official keg. Of course, live Austrian music, sidewalks full of food and drink, dancers, kids rides, and many other events are scheduled to take place throughout the street.

Tickets are free, but the brew is priced according to half liter or one liter steins ($15 & $20). If you happen to be arriving in town just in time for this event, you may benefit from taking a peek at special lodging packages that will include Oktoberfest tickets and other information. This event is suitable for adults and kids alike, but no pets are allowed on the main street. The smells and sounds of fall are upon us, so take advantage of all this colorful season has to offer before the snow starts to fly.

One of the featured menu items is the Rocky Mountain Nachos, a heaping portion of yellow, blue, and red tortilla chips stacked with refried beans, melted cheddar, peppers, salsa, guacamole, and just about every other topping imaginable. The Brewery Wings are chicken wing perfection, served either spicy-sweet or in Buffalo hot sauce. Perhaps the most popular item is the Fish and Chips, which delivers Alaskan cod fried in Breck Light Beer batter and served atop a generous mound of brew fries.
