Big Breckenridge Events

Breckenridge is a great spot for skiing and to just get away from it all. But Breckenridge can also be an exciting place with lots of events year-round. One of the coolest events- literally, is Budweiser Select International Snow Sculpture Championships. This event is held each January. Artists transform blocks of ice into amazing works of art during the competition from January 22-27.

You can also celebrate Mardi Gras in Breckenridge from February Second through fifth! During Mardi Gras the town comes alive. There is a New Orleans Style Masqeurade Ball, as well as live music, dancing, and plenty more including the crowning of Breckinridge Rex and Queen. On February fifth, there will also be a parade down Main Street which will include live music and dancing.

Another great event is the Annual Breckenridge Film Festival. The 28th edition will be from June 5th to the 8th in 2008. Audiences at the festival have had a chance to meet many actors and directors over the years, and of course view Hollywoods latest releases. Some films to show at the Breckenridge Film Festival include Lost in Translation, American Beauty, and Frida among many others.

Another great time to be in Breckenridge is for the Fourth of July. There is always plenty of entertainment and overall family fun. There is a parade, fireworks, music, kids activities, and much more. Things start with a 10k trail run at 8:30 a.m. Then there is the Fourth of July parade that starts at 11 a.m. on Main Street. The celebration is finished off in the evening with a spectacular fireworks display.
