If you are planning a trip to Breckenridge, you most likely know that this town offers skiing, golfing, and fishing enough for any outdoor enthusiast. But, did you know that Breckenridge also has its very own winery? Who would have thought that nestled within the Rocky Mountains was a vineyard that specialized in Colorados own unique take on wine?

The Breckenridge Winery was begun in 2002 when James Davis decided that Colorado was the perfect place to grow the very temperamental grape fruit. Grapes are chosen from both California and Colorado in order to produce find quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling. Davis has also begun to experiment with Pinot Noir and Tempranillo, which is sure to be a future hit. The Breckenridge Winery can boast the title of highest altitude winery in the world resting at 9,200 feet.

Since this vineyard is relatively young, you can expect your bottle of Breckenridge wine to age nicely and to become a highly collectible bottle in the near future. If you adore wine, why not visit the vineyard appointments are mandatory in order to gain a further understanding of the wine industry, and the difficulties that arise while producing wine at such a high elevation. Although the winery is not open to the public during the ski season, it is a fantastic daytime trip during any summer Breckenridge visit. Alternately, you can order wine directly from the site at www.breckenridgewinery.com, or simply look for the label around town at any fine restaurant. The Breckenridge Winery is sure to entice even the most sophisticated palette, so why not give the vineyard a call today to arrange your own personal tour.
